A Touch of Gray:
“Life is not black and white; there is some gray nuance to it.”
Pilou Asbaek: Euron Greyjoy in the television series Game of Thrones.
As is true in life, so it is in kitchen design, especially when reviewing all of the options in the Medallion Cabinetry Finish Folio: Paint Edition
Suzanne DeRusha, Manager of Content Marketing and Design at acpi, and former Trends Expert at Medallion Cabinetry says, “Pairing with gray is rather straightforward, and you may already have some duo or trio combos of your own to share.”
If you take a look at our portfolio, you will see a wide range of color options from bright white to dark wood stains. There are also a large number of predominantly off-white kitchens. What we would like to show you is how, in some instances, grays can be an interesting choice, especially when paired with related colors.
Here are some color stories containing paint, stain, and highlight options that we hope will inspire you and, perhaps, make it easier for you to pick what’s best for your project.
A Touch of Gray – Cool
As you can see, Gray Owl is the lightest option, when compared to London Fog and Perfect Storm. If you are looking for a no-frills, flat-matte kitchen, we can envision all three of those grays in a design. Perfect Storm would be excellent as an accent color and London Fog and Gray Owl could be used as finishes for an island and cabinetry.
Here is a really nice color story that Suzanne put together that includes not only our “three grays”, but countertop selections from Caesarstone’s Metropolitan Collection: Cloudburst Concrete and Airy Concrete.
A Touch of Gray – Warm
When compared to our previously-mentioned grays, Sandpiper works well with some other warm grays: Macchiato and Frappe. If you are leaning towards a warm gray kitchen you could use Frappe as an accent and have the rest of the cabinetry (or lighting, backsplash, flooring) in Macchiato or Sandpiper.
To really expand upon the Warm Gray concept, have a look at this combination of Light Grays and Warm Stains.
